Public Records

Your application submission is a public record. Wisconsin and other public records laws may require the City to share your application materials if someone makes a public records request. If a public records request is made, the City's Records Custodian applies the law to decide whether the record must be disclosed, or if any part of the record must be withheld or redacted.

Pursuant to State law, Trade Secrets and Personally Identifiable Information will not be disclosed.

A trade secret is defined as information, including a formula, pattern, compilation, program, device, method, technique, or process to which all of the following apply:

  1. The information derives independent economic value, actual or potential, from not being generally known to, and not being readily ascertainable by proper means by, other persons who can obtain economic value from its disclosure or use.
  2. The information is the subject of efforts to maintain its secrecy that are reasonable under the circumstances. Wis. Stats. § 134.90(1)(c)

Personally Identifiable Information is defined as information that can be associated with a particular individual through one or more identifiers or other information or circumstances. Wis. Stats. § 19.62 (5)
