Reminder of the Tuesday primary election. For this District, the only race on the ballot is for the State Superintendent position. Please check where to vote and what’s on your ballot at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings
Note: This is not a complete list of meetings for this upcoming week. All meetings and their details can be found at the Meeting Schedule page.
- Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place on Monday, February 17, at 4:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include an overview of the 2026 budget calendar and process.
- Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, February 17, at 5:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include development-related requests in Districts 1, 3, 12, 16, and 19.
- Transportation Commission: The Transportation Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 19, at 5:00 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include a presentation on the history and future of Madison transportation.

- Capital City Trail Storm Sewer Replacement, Thursday, February 20: A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Feb. 20, 2025, via Zoom. Registration prior is required.

- City of Madison Honors Crossing Guards During Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week: The State of Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction has declared the week of February 17-21 Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week, and the City of Madison proudly recognizes their 63 dedicated crossing guards!
- Madison Arts Commission and Monona Terrace Announce Call for Art for Rooftop and Olin Terrace: The Madison Arts Commission invites artists to apply to the 2025 Art on the Rooftop exhibition at the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
- Mayor Rhodes-Conway announces next steps on housing agenda : Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is announcing new housing goals, an interactive housing tracker for the public to monitor progress, and an update to her Housing Forward initiative to guide City actions over the next two years.
- From mule-drawn buses to BRT, Madison Transportation Director Tom Lynch recently presented the history & future of Madison transportation to the Common Council. 🚍 🚏🚎
- Public Health Madison & Dane County and Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin have updated Food Insecurity in Dane County for 2025. Food insecurity has increased in recent years and impacts many Dane County households. This report gives a deeper understanding of the scale of the challenge through local data and the lens of four key areas of focus:
- economic security
- access to affordable and nutritious food
- nutrition assistance programs
- our emergency food system
- The Planning Division’s Neighborhood Grant Program will once again offer small grants in 2025 to neighborhood groups, small groups of residents, business associations and other eligible organizations for neighborhood improvement projects. Create community gathering places, native plant gardens, or public art, or build the capacity of your neighborhood group! The grant application deadline is February 18 by 4:30 p.m. Grant guidelines and application materials are posted to the City’s webpage. Check out this short video to learn more.
- The City of Madison Food Policy Council (MFPC) 2025 SEED Grants apps are due next Friday February 21st by 11:59 p.m. and should be submitted to the MFPC at mfpc@cityofmadison.com. SEED Grants are small grants designed to support new and recently emerging projects or programs that support access to healthy food in our community.
- Please see the list of sites that will have prescribed burns this year, including the Glen, Hoyt Park, Vilas Park, and Wingra Park.

- Prioritizing Traffic Safety for All Road Users: D7 Virtual Lunch and Learn with Traffic Engineering, Thursday, February 20: Alder Nasra Wehelie is excited to continue her Lunch and Learn session for this month, featuring Traffic Engineering on Thursday, February 20, from 12 to 1 p.m. Whether you drive, bike, or walk, this virtual Lunch and Learn will offer residents a unique opportunity to gain insights into traffic safety and infrastructure planning.
- Provisional Voter Deadline, Friday, February 21: Provisional voters have until 4 p.m. to bring their photo ID to the Clerk's Office so the Board of Canvassers can count their provisional ballot.
- 2025 Tee Off Party, Saturday, February 22: We're teeing off the 2025 golf season with our Annual Tee Off Party, at Odana Hills Golf Course, and you're invited. Meet the pros and purchase your Season Pass or Loyalty Card at a 10% discount - up to $175 in savings!
- Mobile Vaccination Clinic: Badger Prairie Needs Network, Saturday, February 22 (this event occurs on multiple dates): We're hosting mobile vaccination clinics throughout the county in partnership with community organizations!
- Bird & Nature Adventures | Edna Taylor, Saturday, February 22: Join a naturalist for an easy family-friendly walk from Aldo Leopold Nature Center into beautiful Edna Taylor Conservation Park and enjoy a bit of nature education along the way. Walk will begin at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, 330 Femrite Drive. Meet outside at the Children's Shack. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, and Aldo Leopold Nature Center. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
- FAMILY SLEDDING PARTY: We finally have SNOW! ❄️🛷 🏂 Come join the Friends of Hoyt Park for a Winter Sledding Party on Sunday February 23rd from 1-3PM. The snow should be fast for sledding. Meet in the Main Shelter. There will be a warm fire, hot drinks and snacks available as well as snow painting supplies for the little ones. Bring a friend and your favorite snow conveyance and enjoy the beauty of Hoyt Park in the winter.
