Reconstruction of 200 - 300 Blocks, W. Gorham Street

posted

On May 30, 2006, Joe Daniels Construction will begin the reconstruction of Gorham Street, from Henry Street to Broom Street, as part of the Phase 3 State Street Reconstruction (300-400 blocks) Project. The reconstruction will include the Gorham Street/State Street intersection, with replacement of the underground facilities, new concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk. Two 10-foot wide lanes will be maintained in the construction zone on Gorham Street during the peak hours of 7:00 to 9:00 AM and 3:30 to 5:30 PM. During non-peak hours, Gorham Street may be reduced to one 11-foot wide traffic lane. Drivers should plan for some congestion and possible traffic delays during the reconstruction of the Gorham Street/State Street intersection. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained across Gorham Street, and through the 300 and 400 blocks of State Street. Access to all businesses will be maintained, and all businesses will remain open. Construction on Gorham Street is expected to continue until mid-July. Construction on State Street will pause temporarily July 14-16 for the annual Maxwell Street Days events. The target completion date for State Street construction is September 1st. Construction updates about State Street and Capitol Square-area projects are available on the Madison Central Business Improvement District website: http://www.visitdowntownmadison.com/construction.php ####### _____________________________________________________________ David C.
