11th Annual Earth Day Challenge Park Clean up

posted

Help in celebrating Madison's 11th Annual Earth Day Challenge by cleaning up local parks and beautifying this amazing city. The event will take place on Saturday, April 21st with over 1,500 volunteers donating a few hours of their time to plant trees and clean up several of Madison's 260 parks. These volunteers consist of neighborhood associations, schools, youth groups, families, seniors, and individuals. The festivities will begin on Friday, April 20 with a tree planting with Lakeview Elementary students at Warner Park. Every year citizens volunteer thousands of hours in their neighborhood parks by cleaning up trash, maintaining flower gardens, removing garlic mustard, spreading mulch, and raising money for park improvements. All the time donated by volunteers is greatly appreciated and serves as a gracious contribution to our community. If you or your group would like to participate in the Earth Day Challenge, please call Laura Whitmore, Parks Community Relations Coordinator at 266-5949.
