City of Madison Closes Structure at 131 West Wilson

The City of Madison Building Inspection Department has been monitoring structural concerns at 131 West Wilson, a property owned by Rice Investors LLC.

The landlord is addressing the structural concerns but the work is not completed. Out of an abundance of caution, the City is ordering the building vacated until structural engineers determine that either there is no cause for concern, or the structural issue is fixed. This building is primarily occupied by commercial offices. The City will continue to work with the building owner to maintain the safety of building occupants and the surrounding area.

Building Inspection officials do not believe the building is in danger of imminent collapse. However, the building will be monitored daily and any changes to the structural integrity of the building addressed.
