Common Council Approves Metro Transit Network Redesign Plan with Amendments

posted

After almost 60 public meetings, the Common Council approved the Metro Transit Network Redesign. The plan had been previously amended and passed by the Transportation Policy and Planning Board, and passed Council with no further changes.  A revised map with the amendments showing the final configuration can be seen here. A history of the extensive engagement for this project can be found here.

“This is a great day for people who rely on public transit in Madison.  The Metro Network Redesign solves decades old problems with our former network, and expressly and intentionally improves service for low-income communities and communities of color,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “This vote allows us to move forward to the next step, which will be a federal Title VI study to assess and approve our design.”
