Civil Rights — Office Hours and General Information
Beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Department of Civil Rights office is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 8:00 – 4:30. PLEASE NOTE: that the office will not be fully staffed due to telework schedules, meetings, and other obligations. This may cause wait times and service delays. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Customer service is very important to us. We want it to be easy for you to access our services and staff. You are welcome to visit the office without an appointment and the staff in the office will do their best to serve you. Please note that calling ahead to (608) 266-4910 is still an option and you may also schedule an appointment—whether virtual, in person, or by phone. Or you may get the information you need on a phone call.

Hearings/Mediations/Conciliations
Mediations, conciliations and hearings will continue as scheduled with the parties invited to participate remotely and/or in person. In most instances a video conference or telephone conference will be arranged by Civil Rights, and the parties will be sent a link or dial-in information to attend. In the event of any change to your contact information, please make sure to update your email address or phone number promptly with Civil Rights staff.
Affirmative Action Plans
We continue to work with contractors to process Affirmative Action Plans and Good Faith Efforts. Please reach out to aaplan@cityofmadison.com if you have any questions about your Affirmative Action Plan. Just like any time of the year, we will gladly offer technical support to help get your plan approved.
AASPIRE Intern Interviews/Hiring
For 2021, we plan to continue the AASPIRE Internship program. We will be in touch with applicants and sponsoring agencies as updates become available.
