Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Lauri Lee

I have some deeply sad news to share. Before the Northside Budget meeting on Wednesday, I learned that Lauri Lee, the esteemed editor of the Northside Planning Council's Northside News, was in the hospital. I had the chance to visit her and say goodbye, a profoundly difficult moment considering we had just spoken less than a month ago.

Lauri passed away at 11:15 on Thursday morning. I ask everyone to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. Lauri dedicated over 15 years to serving the Northside community, leaving an indelible mark on many lives, including mine. Since my election in 2021, she always provided me with a platform in the Northside News to communicate with the community. I am grateful for the opportunity to have prayed with her and expressed my gratitude.

Lauri lived a rich and impactful life, and she will be greatly missed by many. Please share this news with those in your circles who knew Lauri and would want to honor her memory.

Lauri was not just an editor but a pillar of strength and support for countless voices in our community. Through her dedication and vision, she elevated my voice and the accomplishments of many others. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.

Lauri's commitment to our community and tireless efforts to amplify voices have left an indelible legacy. Let us honor her memory by supporting and uplifting each other, just as she did for so many years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Door Creek Church - Sprecher Road Campus, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison. A visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the service.
