Property Owners Can Help Prevent Sewer Overflows
postedRain and Sewage
My Mother's family were part of Milwaukee Mayor Dan Hoan's administration, often referred to as "sewer socialists", so I can't resist blogging about our necessary underground infrastructure. Most District 19 residents would rather not relive the details of the "2018 Flood Event" when many found sewage in their basements. There are many reasons for sewage overflows, but property owners, who control about 50% of the sewage piping in our City, can take some steps to reduce the number and volume of sewage overflows.
The basic action is to reduce the amount of rainwater inflow and infiltration into the sewer system. The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District has published an article about the steps that property owners can take to help reduce overflows. Click here to read the article.
