Bird & Nature Adventures | Starkweather Creek Area
Event Description
Eken Parklands ~ Join Friends of Starkweather Creek at the Eken Park Festival to learn about this amazing natural waterway in the heart of Madison. Find out about opportunities to volunteer and PFAS and other challenges to the creek. Pick up a Creek Canoe Map and make a Prairie Seed Ball to take home and start a patch of native wildflowers for butterflies and bees. Take a walk or bike ride along nearby streets and Commercial Avenue to discover nature in neighborhood parks and back yards. Look for areas with native flowers that are being restored to prairies and rain gardens with help from Friends of Starkweather Creek volunteers. Don't miss the nature murals on the bridge rails and picnic tables in Landsness Legacy Lot at the east end of Commercial Avenue. Take a moment to contemplate nature on the Leopold Bench dedicated to Carl Landsness.
