Rennebohm Park Sprayground
July 10, 2025 Update
Construction is nearly complete after a small delay due to weather conditions. The contractor will be installing the spray features and shade structure after allowing the concrete time to cure. The City's Engineering Division will be installing a solar panel that will power the system. Once these components are complete, the sprayground will be open for use.

Project Information
Thanks to a generous donation and ongoing support of the Madison Parks Foundation, the fully accessible playground area at Rennebohm Park will soon become the “Jeff Erlanger Accessible Playground and Sprayground at Rennebohm Park.” The Madison Parks Division, along with consultant Parkitecture + Planning, are working to finalize design plans for the exciting new sprayground addition to Rennebohm Park. Connected to the west of the new inclusive playground, the sprayground will create a cohesive playspace, provide relief from the summer heat and feature inclusive play features to compliment the success of the inclusive playground. The design is complete with a shaded seating area situated to allow caregivers to monitor activities in both spaces. The sprayground is planned to be a solar-powered flow-through system, meaning the water will not be re-used. The sophisticated design includes features and functions that will ensure that water is used as efficiently as possible. The design team studied the potential for re-use of the water, but determined it is not feasible, as current regulations would require the water to be treated prior to use on garden crops. The re-use of water requires additional complexity and infrastructure to the system, which increases project costs as well as day-to-day and long-term maintenance costs.
The sprayground is anticipated to open by July 3, 2025, barring any major setbacks.
