Whitney Way Safety Improvements

On March 4, City staff held a virtual neighborhood meeting to share potential changes to improve safety for people walking, biking, taking transit, and driving along Whitney Way, This meeting focused on the changes being considered to slow traffic, improve safety for people walking and biking, decrease serious injury crashes and support planned bus rapid transit line in this corridor. Latest Update (February 2022): Project now complete

Improvements:

  • Add a buffered bike lane from Old Middleton Rd to Tokay Blvd
    • This will require the removal of all the on street parking from Sheboygan to South Hill Dr
  • Pedestrian improvements including:
    • Old Middleton Rd – Add high visibility crosswalks
    • Langlois St – Add a pedestrian curb ramp and install a high visibility crosswalk
    • Door Dr  - Add new crosswalks
    • South Hill Dr – Add a rapid flash beacon crossing on the south side of the intersection and add a high visibility crosswalk
    • Tokay Blvd – Add high visibility crosswalks
  • Lower the speed limit on Whitney Way to 25mph
