Public Land Survey System
The City of Madison has previously re-monumented all of the public land corners within and adjacent to its corporate boundary. Additionally, positions were determined relative to the North American Datum of 1983 for the use in the creation of its base mapping for parcels, City Utilities and public improvements.
With all land divisions and land title or rights acquisitions being required to be referenced to these Public Land Corners, the City is proactive in the protection and perpetuation of these Public Land Corners. All of the records of these Pubic Land Corners within the City of Madison can be obtained from the Dane County Surveyor’s Office.
