Nobody Home As Firefighters Find Food Left on Stovetop
43.0417909, -89.3827591
Incident Details
A stovetop fire in the making was caught before fire could occur, thanks to an alert neighbor who called 911 upon hearing a smoke detector sounding in their building.
Firefighters responded to 120 Capital View Terrace, where occupants alerted Ladder Co. 6 that there was fire “on the back side of the building.”
Ladder 6 didn’t see any signs of smoke or fire from the outside when they went around the building. Occupants advised to check a specific apartment. Ladder 6 entered and found burned food on the stove. Nobody was home at the time. Firefighters placed the burning food in the kitchen sink to extinguish it.
There was no damage left behind, and a thermal imaging camera confirmed there were no residual heat signatures. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the apartment unit before clearing from the call.
