Ride Metro Route 38!

Starting Monday, March 3, Metro's Route 38 will extend into Monona.

Metro's Route 38 will provide weekday trips into Monona from 7am through 7pm serving numerous key locations including:

  • Civic Campus (i.e. City Hall, the Community Pool, the Library, Senior Center and Winnequah Park) 
  • Heritage Senior Living
  • Pier 37 Shopping Center
  • Monona Grove High School 
  • Aldo Leopold Nature Center
  • Dutch Mill Park & Ride

Other Routes Serving Monona

Existing Metro Routes G and L will also serve new stops along Monona Dr.

How much does it cost to ride?

An adult fare costs $2.00. Youth, seniors, those with disabilities, and those with low incomes are eligible for half-price fares.

How do I pay a fare?

Pick up a Metro Transit Fast Fare card. Cards will be available soon at Monona at City Hall, the library, senior center and school offices. 

Order one through the mail by emailing mymetrobus@cityofmadison.com

Cash is also accepted on all routes that board in Monona.

Can I transfer to other routes to get further into Madison?

Yes, you can ride Route 38 all the way into Madison as well as transfer to other routes. A free 2-hour transfer window is built into your Fast Fare ride. 

Please note: Cash is not accepted on Metro’s BRT platforms, only Fast Fare cards or paper tickets purchased at most BRT platforms

How do I sign up for paratransit?

Schedule an in-person assessment with Metro staff by calling (608) 266-4466 or emailing mymetrobus@cityofmadison.com. You can schedule your assessment at any time so that you're ready to go when paratransit service is officially available in March.

Metro staff will be out at the Monona Senior Center on Wednesday, January 22 from 10am - 12p to answer questions and collect applications.

How much does paratransit cost to ride?

Each ride costs $3.25. Metro's Fast Fare system is not yet available for paratransit service. You can use cash or purchase paper tickets. You can purchase tickets at Metro Transit or through the mail.
