We have gone from drought last year to flooding this year. And there is more rain in the forecast later this week! Just a reminder for how to report flooding:

Events

  • Capitol City Band Concert in the Park - Thursday, June 27, 2024Join us for an old-fashioned free concert by the Capitol City Band with toe-tapping familiar music for all ages and all cultures. Bring a friend, bring your chairs; enjoy the music on a beautiful summer evening, rain or shine!
  • Live at the Glen - Friday, June 28, 2024: Madison Parks Foundation proudly presents Live at The Glen! Enjoy live music on the patio at The Glen Golf Park.
  • The First Baptist Church (518 North Franklin Ave) invites members of the neighborhood to visit the Dane County Trash Lab truck on Friday June 28 from 6-8pm, and Saturday June 29 from 9:30am-2pm. There will be up-to-date information on recycling in Madison, and about backyard and curbside composting.  Also, there will be some kid's activities, and popcorn!
  • Dive into the world of homeownership with us! Save the date - June 29th – for the Homeownership Month Fair hosted by Take Root WI and our dedicated partners in Madison at the Urban League’s Black Business Hub (2352 S Park St, Madison, WI 53713). From 9am to 1pm, explore everything from buying your first home to mastering homeowner essentials. REGISTER CLICK HERE
  • Youth Climate Action Fund Grant Applications due July 1! A committee of young people from Madison, Wisconsin will review grant applications and distribute funding of up to $5,000 per project to fund youth-led climate initiatives that align with the City of Madison's Sustainability Plan.
  • The Hillington Green Music Festival will be held July 3 at 6pm. If you are interested in being a performer, please contact Bryan & Molly Cooper.
  • Join the Regent Neighborhood Association July 4 event at the West High athletic fields. The parade kicks off at noon, followed by a bring your own picnic and games to share, with the legendary egg toss at 2pm! Note: There will be no brat fry this year.
  • SAVE THE DATE - WestFest 2024 at Elver, August 10: WestFest 2024 is scheduled for August 10th at Elver Park. We believe that you can play a vital role in the neighborhood, and we would love to have you join us in making this event a memorable one.   • Join Madison Parks in making Ride The Drive 2024 an unforgettable community celebration! Ride the Drive, set for Sunday, August 11, is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with setup, guide intersections, staff booths, and assist with cleanup. It’s a fantastic way to support a healthy, active lifestyle and connect with your neighbors. Sign up now, and you'll receive a free 2024 Ride the Drive t-shirt at the event! Most shifts are just 2 hours, allowing you plenty of time to enjoy the event.

  • Event Rate Increases for City of Madison Parking Garages: The City of Madison Parking Division will increase the event rate in city-owned parking garages effective July 1, 2024. The event rate was last increased from $5 to $8 in 2016.
  • Public Health Promotes Online Database for Lost Pets: Public Health Madison & Dane County is promoting a new initiative to help connect lost pets with their owners.
  • City of Madison recognizes National Homeownership Month: The City of Madison is dedicated to making homeownership achievable and sustainable for residents as part of the City’s commitment toward better access to safe, secure, and affordable housing for all.
  • City Clerk's Office begins mailing absentee ballots to voters with requests on file: Track the status of your absentee at My Vote. Here's how to make sure your absentee ballot will count:
    • Seal your ballot in the return envelope.
    • Sign the envelope where it says "Voter Signature."
    • Have your witness sign the envelope where it says "Witness Signature."
    • Have your witness write their name on the envelope where it says "Witness Printed Name."
    • Have your witness write their address on the envelope where it says "Witness Address (Number, Street Name, City).
    • Return your ballot early enough that the Clerk's Office will receive it by Election Day.
  • Crossing Guards Needed! Are you or someone you know looking for part-time work? Are you responsible, dependable, enjoy kids and the outdoors? Then we want you for the 2024-25 school year! As a Crossing Guard, you will be providing a great community service and a friendly face for students each morning and afternoon. $20.26 per hour (appx. $800+/month) plus regular raises. 10-17 hours/ week, Monday-Friday (morning and afternoon shifts) Flexibility is required for early release dates (including early release every Monday afternoon). Crossing guards are needed at:
    1. WEST: University Ave/N. Allen St — Randall Elementary
    2. WEST: Whitney Way/Russett Rd — Orchard Ridge Elementary
    3. WEST: Mineral Point Rd/Segoe Rd — Van Hise Elementary
    4. WEST: Monroe/Odana/Nakoma —Thoreau Elementary
    5. NORTH: Wyoming/Esch — Gompers Elementary
    6. NORTH: 4500 Kennedy Rd — Lindbergh Elementary
    7. Daily Relief and On-call/Substitute guards
