Benefits

You earn 8 hours of sick leave for every 200 hours work, up to 3 days in maximum. At the end of the season, you will receive pay for one half of your unused sick leave if you work the entire season.

You will receive a free Metro bus pass as an employee of the city.

Each year there is the possibility of being recalled to return to work for the city.

And as an employee, you will be given opportunities to apply for other jobs within the city that are not open to the general public.

Hiring Public Works Maintenance Seasonals

This is entry-level work performed in one of the Public Works agencies of the City of Madison, including Streets, Engineering, Parking Division, Parks, Traffic Engineering, and the Water Utility. The City annually hires approximately 100 hourly Laborers for its various public works agencies. Applications for these positions are accepted from January 1 – May 31 each year.
