August Student Move Out Days Are Here
Last week, the Streets Division published information about our operations for the student move out area that will be in place from today, August 5, 2024, until August 23, 2024.
Here is a summary of what you need to know about what we’re doing for the 2024 move out. This information can also be found on our student move out website, www.cityofmadison.com/MovingDays.
- Donate usable items instead of wasting them. A list of local donation opportunities can be found at www.cityofmadison.com/ReUse.
- Follow the large item set-out rules for the safety of our crews, and to help make our work collecting your bulky items fast and efficient.
- Use the large item work order system to schedule the collection of appliances for recycling (microwaves, air conditioners, etc.) and other special items, like tires. The work order system is available at www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItemWorkOrder.
- Collection crews will be roaming the student move-out area to collect furniture, mattresses, carpeting and other items destined for the landfill beginning today, August 5, 2024, and ending on August 23, 2024.
- Starting on Monday, August 5, as time and staffing allows, the Streets Division will have crews emptying trash and recycling carts every workday in the student move out area. Fill and refill your carts. And use them correctly. Only put good recyclables in the green cart. And put trash in the tan cart.
- Do not set televisions, computers, or other electronics out at the curb for pickup. Take them to a Streets Division drop-off site. If you are a City of Madison resident, electronics are accepted for free at the drop-off sites. More details are available at www.cityofmadison.com/eCycle.
