HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN COMMON COUNCIL MEETINGS? The Common Council generally holds meetings twice a month on Tuesdays, starting at 6:30 pm in hybrid format. Members of the public can participate in the following ways:

  • Watch Online
  • Attend In Person or Virtually
  • Register for Public Comment
  • Provide Comments before a Meeting

  • Blood Pressure Screening, Tuesday, August 6Free Blood Pressure Screening is available to older adults, on the first and third Tuesday, 11:15 - 12:00 pm. Please find additional upcoming Madison Senior Center events listed on the Madison Senior Center event calendar.
  • WNA Sponsored: National Night Out, Join us for the second annual National Night Out Picnic at Westmorland Park on Tuesday, August 6th from 5 to 8pm hosted by the Westside Madison Good Neighbor Project? The Mad City Ukes will be performing live, and you can meet command staff and neighborhood officers from the Madison Police Department’s Midtown District. Free food and refreshments will be provided. National Night Out is an annual nationwide community event that promotes police-community partnerships to help keep our neighborhoods safe, caring places to live. Learn more HERE
    Horses from the MPD’s Mounted Patrol Unit and a police K9 team will also be making an appearance this year, so don’t miss this fun event which is sponsored by the Westmorland Neighborhood Association.
  • Capitol City Band Concert in the ParkThursday, August 7 from 7 – 8:15 pm Rennebohm Park at 115 N Eau Claire Ave. Old-fashioned free concerts in the park by the Capitol City Band with toe-tapping familiar music for all ages and all cultures. Bring a friend, bring your chairs; enjoy the music on a beautiful summer evening; rain or shine!
  • Madison Night Market, Thursday, August 8The Office of the Common Council is excited to host its resource table at the Madison Night Market on Thursday, August 8. We welcome you to stop by and say hi and share your feedback with Council staff and alders!
  • Ride the Drive 2024, Sunday, August 11: It’s thousands of happy healthy people coming together to experience parks and open streets in a single, one-day, free, community event. Since the inaugural Ride the Drive in 2009, this event continues to celebrate Madison’s commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle focusing on the environmental and economic impacts and the importance of social integration.
  • District 11 Book Club: "Gone for Good? Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition?" (In-person only) Wednesday, Aug 14, 2024, 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Sequoya Library.  To explore the topic of evolving church and community property, the next District 11 Book Club will be a discussion of the 2024 book edited by Mark Elsdon, Gone for Good?: Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition . Copies of the book are available for book club attendees to check out in advance at the Ask Desk at Sequoya Library, first-come first-served. The August 14 discussion will be facilitated by Alder Tishler with authors Mark Elsdon, Nadia Mian, and Curt Paulson. All community members are welcome to attend and bring a friend!
