Hello Friends,

It's today's blog post you'll find:

  • Public testimony from District 17 residents
  • Listen to my discussion about the Imagination Center on City Cast Madison
  • Save the date: Imagination Center at Risk: Town Hall to Inform, Educate, Advocate
  • Reminder: How to schedule a time with me + is the library important to you?

TELL US WHAT YOU WANT FOR OUR DISTRICT

It was great to see and hear Kate and Kara from the Greater Sandburg Neighborhood speak at last nights Common Council Meeting.  It's so important for all Alders to hear from you about what you'd like to see happen in the Sandburg Area.  Even if you weren't able to share your feedback with us yesteriday, you can still email Alders at allalders@cityofmadison.com ahead of our special virtual meeting on August 20, 2024 to take up a final vote on the referendum resolution. Please take a few minutes to listen to Kate and Kara's comments and I'm sure you'll be inspired to share your feedback too. Learn more about what the referendum may mean for District 17 in my post from yesterday.

Listen on Apple, Youtube or Spotify.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to share how important the Imagination Center is for our district with City Cast Madison.  I hope you'll listen and encourage others to listen too.  One of the first emails I got this morning after listening to the episode was from a resident on the west side of Madison who shared that she was in favor of funding for the Imagination Center.

Episode description: "After years of planning and community input, the future of the $18.6 million, 16,000-square-foot “Imagination Center” at Reindahl Park is in limbo. With the city facing a potential multimillion-dollar budget deficit, the project has received little attention — District 17 Ald. Sabrina Madison is trying to change that.

Host Bianca Martin spoke with Madison about why the center is so desperately needed and what this process has shown about the city’s priorities."

Staff from the Library, Finance, Parks, and other agencies will present information and be available to answer questions.

Invited attendees include: former District 17 Alders Joe Clausius and Rep. Samba Baldeh, Madison’s Common Council, Dane County Supervisors, the Mayor's Office, and Wisconsin State Legislators.

Alder Sabrina Madison, District 17

With email usually pretty heavy, I encourage you to schedule a time for us to meet over a call, virtual, or in person meeting by adding a time to my calendar

Lastly, please do take a few minutes to send me a note about the Imagination Center and it's importance to you/your household.  You can catch up on the proposed library here
