Time to Vote on the Snowplow Names!
The election opens today on the Wisconsin Salt Wise website.
You have until February 24 at 8:00pm to submit your vote.
Madison, you crushed the snowplow name suggestions. We received 1,335 total names.
After taking all of these suggestions under advisement, it was difficult to come up with the narrow list of candidates. Voters, you will have a lot of options. We had so many good names, there’s an extra plow truck to name to make room for all of the excellent suggestions we received.
How to Vote
The election will be hosted on the Wisconsin Salt Wise website.
The election is a ranked-choice style vote.
This means when you vote, you can choose your top five choices for each of the trucks eligible to receive names. The one you rank #1 is your favorite, #2 is your second favorite, and so on.
There are six different vehicles being named. Each truck has 11 name candidates.
On the Streets Division’s website, you can find an explanation about how exactly ranked-choice voting works to find the majority opinion from all the participating voters for this snowplow naming election. (To read it, when you get to the Streets Division webpage, click the box that reads “About Ranked Choice Elections.”)
The election will be set up to try to eliminate duplicate entries, so please only vote for all of the plows just one time.
Where are the names?
Candidate names alongside photos of the trucks can be found on the Streets Division's snowplow naming website.
You can also see the names on the Wisconsin Salt Wise page when you go to vote.
