MPD Notice: Arbor Hills Area

posted

Over the last several days MPD have observed an increase in theft from autos in the Abor Hills area.  A common trend observed outside of the criminal activity in itself, is that valuable personal items are being left in plain view, and some incidents vehicles have been left unlocked.  Most of these incidents are occurring during overnight hours, and are targeting apartment complexes, parking lots and residential areas.  Common items being taken are purses, wallets, cash, shoes and clothes.  Below are some prevention steps for residents.

Preventative Steps to Reduce Theft From Autos:

  • Lock your car doors
  • Keep windows up
  • Do not keep valuables in your car (including spare keys, medications, car title, backpacks)
  • When possible, park in lit areas
  • If you see something suspicious, report it; 608-255-2345
  • Communicate with your neighbors

A detective has been assigned to follow up and track the incidents. In addition, MPD will be providing some direct patrol to the area.
