Rapid Route A

Metro's first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route is now in service!

Through the use of larger buses, dedicated lanes, and a new fare collection system, Metro's Rapid Route A moves riders more quickly and efficiently through the community.

Metro Rapid Route A offers 15-minute service Monday through Friday until 8:00 p.m. and until 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Thirty-minute service is available on Sundays and holidays.

Rapid Route A runs east/west from the Sun Prairie Park and Ride to Junction Rd. and board at stations starting at East Springs Dr. on the east side, all the way to the west end of the route.

BRT Features

  • Electric Buses

    All-electric articulated buses will run on Rapid Route A, as well as Routes B and F. These buses are quieter, more eco-friendly and hold 50% more riders than our local buses.

  • Fare System

    Metro’s Fast Fare system lets you board buses more quickly by paying with a contactless credit or debit card, or a virtual wallet. If you prefer to use cash, you can buy your fare at ticket machines at select Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations before boarding.
  • Bus-Only Traffic Lanes

    Buses will make their way more efficiently through traffic with bus-only travel lanes and traffic signal priority.

  • Bus Tracking Technology

    You can track any Metro bus online or with third-party apps. This makes it easier to plan your trip and follow your ride while you travel.
  • Accessibility Features

    Metro buses and stations have a number of features that make it easier and more convenient for everyone to ride.

  • Bike Racks

    Bike racks are located inside the rear door of each BRT bus.

  • Station Ticket Machines

    For riders using cash, automatic ticket machines are available at most stations.
