2-Hour Transfers
Your Fare Acts Like a 2-Hour Pass! Tap the same physical card or the same virtual wallet card every time you ride. You'll receive an automatic 2-hour transfer for your connecting ride. You won't be charged within the 2-hour transfer window.

Fare Capping
For frequent riders, the more you ride each day or week, Metro offers a “cap” price, and will no longer charge you for the fare for the rest of that day or for the rest of that week once the card reaches the cap.

Fast Fare Card & Account
- Pick up a Fast Fare card at the Metro Transit Administration office (1245 E. Washington Ave.), all Madison libraries, or through the mail by emailing mymetrobus@cityofmadison.com.
- Get all of Metro's multiple-ride discounts without paying for a pass or card in advance, and pay as you go through fare cap pricing and 2-hour transfers.
- Sign up for half-price fare available to all youth, seniors, those with disabilities, and those with low incomes based on verified eligibility.

Using Cash
- Cash is only accepted when boarding at standard bus stops with blue metal signs. When boarding at Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations, use cash to buy tickets at vending machines before you ride.
- Cash is not accepted on buses boarding at BRT stations. Purchase single tickets and 1-day passes using the automatic ticket machines located on most platforms.
- Have your pass or exact cash fare ready when boarding standard buses.

Old Fare Items
All old magnetic strip cards and passes are no longer accepted when boarding at BRT stations and will soon be phased out systemwide. -
