Austen Brantley Public Sculpture Unveiling

Since June, 2023 Detroit-based artist Austen Brantley has been working on a sculpture for Darbo-Worthington. His scupture, Mother and Child, is completed. We invite the public to join us for an unveiling at 4:30 PM on July 8 at 3002 Darbo Dr. Stay after for games and live music at Parks Alive! at Worthington Park from 5-7 PM

Austen Brantley is a self-taught figurative sculptor. His work interweaves themes of heritage, identity, and realistic portrayals of Black lives. Learn more about Austen Brantley.

The 2017 Darbo-Worthington-Starkweather Neighborhood Plan inspired this project. The plan asked the City to for a public art project to build neighborhood pride.
