TIRE DISPOSAL FEE

The City of Madison charges for the collection and disposal of tires.

This fee also applies to tires brought into the drop off sites.

A $5 Fee is charged for the following

  • Automobile Tires
  • Small Truck Tires
  • Motorcycle Tires

A $10 Fee is charged for the following

  • Car, small truck, and motorcycle tires on rims
  • Large truck tires
  • Tractor tires

Note: We do not accept large truck or tractor tires on rims. We do not accept tires from end loaders, graders, or other large equipment.

There is no fee for small trailer tires, bicycle tires, or golf cart tires.


how do I pay the tire fee?

 

  • Calling our offices and making a purchase over the phone:
    • 608-246-4532 (Streets East)

  • Mailing a check to:
    • Street Division, 1501 W. Badger Rd., Madison, WI 53713.
    • Make the check payable to City Treasurer
  • In person at the Streets Division offices during regular business hours
    • 1501 W. Badger Rd; Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm
    • 4602 Sycamore Ave; Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm

 


Do I have to pay the fee if I bring my tires to the drop off sites?

Yes, and the tires must have a recycling fee sticker attached. After you pay the fee using the work order system, and if you chose to bring the tires to a drop-off site, stickers for your tires will be mailed to you.

 

Are there other tire disposal options?

Most tire dealers in the area take old tires from their customers. Their fees may be lower than those charged by the City of Madison.

The Dane County Landfill also accepts tires for a fee. Call them at 608-838-9555 for more information.
