Training
The City of Madison Fire Department has two Training Divisions: Fire and EMS.
The EMS Training Division is responsible for ensuring all personnel are maintaining their EMS certifications; have the proper supplies, equipment, and medication to perform their daily duties; work closely with the MFD Medical Director to ensure the department is implementing the most recent medical protocols and best practices; and provide EMS education to all new recruits. The division is comprised of a Division Chief, Captain of EMS Training, and four training officers.
The Fire Training Division is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing numerous training topics and specialties for field personnel throughout the year. Some areas include: engine operations, ladder operations, officer development, and vehicle extrication. The division is responsible for teaching the recruit academies for our new firefighters as well as the orientation classes for our newly promoted Apparatus Engineers and Lieutenants. The division is comprised of a Division Chief, Captain of Fire Training, and Training Officers.
Training officers also continue to provide CPR/AED training to employees of:
- Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center
- Madison Water Utility
- City of Madison Engineering Division
- Madison Metro
- Madison Public Library
The City of Madison Fire Department´s Training Center is located at Fire Station 14, 3201 Dairy Drive.
