Paratransit Service for Visitors

Visitors to the Madison area may also be eligible to use Metro’s ADA paratransit service for up to 21 days in a 365-day period. If you are planning a visit, contact Metro for more information on how to establish visitor eligibility prior to your arrival.

Visitor Eligibility Process

Metro will accept the ADA paratransit certification of another transit agency if you have been determined eligible in your home community. You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Dates of your visit
  • Where you will be staying during your visit
  • Your contact information
  • Information about your ADA paratransit eligibility certification
  • Contact information for your home transit agency

If you are not already certified as ADA paratransit eligible with another transit agency, visitor eligibility can be established by providing the following:

  • Dates of your visit
  • Where you will be staying during your visit
  • Your contact information
  • Documentation of your residence
  • Information on how a disability prevents use of the bus
  • Documentation of disability (if requested)

Fares

You must present a fare at pick-up in order to ride. Cash fare must be exact, as drivers cannot make change.

Convenience Tickets (Green or Gold)*1 per ride

*Depending on the length of your stay, you may want to purchase Metro convenience tickets. They are sold in booklets of six and are non-refundable. Purchase online before you arrive, or in person at the Metro Administration Office.
